Tot School - Joining In!

Lil' Diva
is 41 months old

I think one of the things that made homeschooling so hard last year was that I didn't have enough planned for my toddler to do while "big kids' school" was going on. In fact I really didn't have anything planned (duh). So this summer when I discovered the concepts of preschool activities in a bag and "tot school" from the homeschool blog world I jumped all over it.

We had our first week of school this week, and being able to pull out a bag for Lil' Diva to work on at a moment's notice made all the difference in the world in how our homeschool day went. I also set aside time when my older girls could be "junior teachers" and do the activities with Lil' Diva while I worked with my son (a big 7th grader this year - eep!). They all seemed to love it - junior teachers, and junior student. :)

Here's some of our "tot school" time this week:

Cheerio fun

Play-doh "cookies"

fun with numbers
(match stickers to the number)

painting

fort building
(a good trick to use when Lil' Diva didn't feel like doing an activity - it took on a whole new magic when it could be done inside a fort)

more painting

shaving cream
(our favorite way to clean the table)
It took a little while for Lil' Diva to agree to touch the shaving cream (she's not a fan of gooey stuff on her hands)...

but after watching her big brother and sisters having so much fun...

she finally couldn't resist

but the "goo-factor" did get to her after a while and we had to wash up. But she had fun.

The big kids are learning about the human body this month, so Lil' Diva joined in by making her own book about teeth

What a great start to your school year! We are pushing our start date back since we extended our vacation. (SOOOOO not ready.) Thanks for the link to Tot School - that looks like a great resource! I don't know how I could do this without the inspiration of other homeschoolers' blogs and ideas!

I love that big pile of shaving cream with her hands folded together! I have never tried shaving cream, but it looks like a lot of fun! Way to jump right in this week! Looks like a very fun and productive week. I love how you tied her activities in with the older one! Great job! :-)
